Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to attend the 18th Asia Pacific Optometric Congress (APOC), which will be held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Singapore, on 24th to 26th November 2011.
This Congress is jointly hosted by the Asia Pacific Council of Optometry (APCO), the Singapore Optometric Association (SOA) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The 18th APOC with the theme of “Optometry – A Primary Eye Care Profession” consists of three days of invited lectures, scientific paper sessions, industrial sessions and exhibition. A symposium session titled “The role of Optometrists in public health” is scheduled on the third day. The Gala Dinner will be held on 24th November.
This is an opportunity to interact with Optometric colleagues from around the world, to contribute and to learn, and gain knowledge and power to promote and grow our profession in our own geographical areas and in the Asia Pacific region as a whole. And of course we hope you have lots of fun in the process!
We welcome back those who have attended in the past; at Hong Kong in 2009; Goa, India in 2007 and Tokyo, Japan in 2005 and a warm hello to new delegates. You can all be assured of an interesting and varied Congress program this year.
Yours sincerely, |

It is a privilege for the Singapore Optometric Association (SOA) to host this Bi-annual event. We have been working hard to ensure that the 18th APOC will run smoothly and all delegates will also enjoy their short stay in Singapore. The congress will be held at Suntec Convention Centre, where in the vicinity there is no shortage of shopping centres, luxury hotels, places of interests such as the Singapore Flyers, Merlion Park, Marina Bay Sands, Marina Barrage) and a variety of delicious foods.
In conjunction with the Singapore Tourism Board, we will arrange tours to few attractions, like the one and only Night Safari and the famous Sentosa Island for delegates and companions.
The theme for this congress is “Optometry – A Primary Eye Care Profession”. Optometrists are usually the first line of contact for patients with all kinds of eyes complaints. So by advancing ourselves with the latest knowledge in this field, we can better serve our patients by identifying symptoms early to prevent vision loss or helping them to see with better clarity and comfort. Internationally renowned speakers have been invited to share with us the latest advancement and innovation in optometry.
We look forward in meeting you, and we promise to do our best to ensure that you have a fruitful time in the congress and enjoy Singapore at the same time! |
