• Promote communication and exchange between member associations
and to maintain effective collaboration.

Represent the optometric organizations of the Asia and Pacific
region at the World Council of Optometry, and to participate in the
governance of the World Council of Optometry.
•
Maintain, promote and protect the visual welfare of the peoples of
the Asia and Pacific region of the world.
•
Assist, support, uphold and promote the character, status and
interests of the profession of optometry in the Asia and Pacific
region of the world.
•
Convene and conduct scientific, educational and professional
meetings and conferences between members of the Council and between
optometrists from the Asia and Pacific region of the world.
•
Improve, assist, support and advance the standards of education and
training of optometrists in the Asia and Pacific region of the
world.
•
Promote, assist, advance and guide the standards of clinical
practice of optometrists in the Asia and Pacific region of the
world.
•
Seek and gain, where necessary, specific higher level or university
education and training of optometrists in the Asia and Pacific
region of the world.
•
Seek and gain for members, where necessary, statutory control of
entry to and clinical practice in the profession of optometry in
the Asia and Pacific region of the world.
•
Cooperate or affiliate with any other national or international
organization whose interests or activities are related to visual
welfare.
• Advocate
optometry and represent it generally to government and non-government
agencies in the Asia and Pacific region of the world.
•
Represent, generally, the views and interests of the profession of
optometry and to preserve and maintain its professional status and
integrity by imposing rules of conduct designed to establish uniform
and improved standards of professional conduct and by promoting just
and honorable practice and by suppressing malpractice.
•
Assist in developing an informed public opinion among all peoples
on matters relating to optometric vision care.
