Opt. Aruna Rathnayake is an optometrist and a contact lens practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in the field of optometry. He is a former chairman of Sri Lanka Optometric Association and also served in the lecture panel to educate optometry students.

Presently Opt. Aruna Rathnayake holds the position of Executive member of Asia Pacific Council of Optometry, Co- Chairperson -APCO Membership Sub Committee, Member- APCO Organizing Sub-Committee and Member- APCO Public Health Sub Committee and the position board of direction related to Legal & Legislation and Education & Higher Education of Sri Lanka Optometric Association.

Opt. Aruna Rathnayake completed his primary and secondary education at De Mazenod College Kandana, Sri Lanka and passed G. C. E A/L examination in Bio Science Stream. He holds a diploma in Optometry and he completed Higher National Diploma in Optometry in 2014 becoming the batch top.

He completed Master Mind in Contact Lens and Essilor Dispensing Optics courses and he became the best poster presenter at Annual Scientific Session in 2012.

Opt. Aruna Rathnayake is a low vision practitioner at Radiant Eye Hospital, Sri Lanka and he is a contact lens practitioner playing a vital role in management of distorted irregular corneas.

He is currently involved in the Vision 2030 program for eye screening of school children in rural areas of Sri Lanka.

Opt. Aruna Rathnayake worked as a trainee optometrist at Ray Ban Opticians, Sri Lanka, and as an optometrist and a contact lens practitioner at Ray Ban opticians, Sri Lanka.

In 2014 Opt. Aruna Rathnayake launched Specs Services at Hemas Hospitals, Sri Lanka. He is a member of Sri Lanka Optometric Association, Ceylon Council of Optometrists & Orthoptics and a registered contact lens practition
