Dr. Melissa B. Anglo is a practicing optometrist for 55 years with specialty on Low Vision and Vision Rehabilitation and is currently active in the prevention of visual impairments and myopia.

Dr. Anglo is involved in improving the landscape of Optometry in her country in several possible ways. She contributed towards the preparation of the six-year curriculum of Optometry which included the ten percentile in Low Vision. She was the resource optometrist in passing the Bacolod City ordinance known as "Mandatory Vision Screening for Infants And Children Ordinance" to rule out congenital eye diseases, amblyopia, strabismus & refractive errors.

In 2016 she was awarded as Outstanding Optometrist of the Year by the oldest optometric organization, the Optometric Association of the Philippines (OAP since 1935). She served as president of the Philippine College of Optometrists, Inc.(PCO) in 1999 to 2004, and OAP in 2008 to 2009. She is a member of the Executive Committee of Asia Pacific Council of Optometry since 2020 up to the present.
